Terms of use
Last updated 13 September 2026. They apply to accounts on versefiles.com. Reading needs no account and no agreement. This is a courtesy translation; the German version (switch the language in the menu) is the binding one.
1. Operator and scope
Versefiles is run by Alexander Wüst (address in the imprint) as a non-commercial Star Citizen fan project. The site publishes mission data extracted from the game files and lets registered users add walkthroughs, notes, sightings, images and videos. There are no fees, no ads and no guarantee of availability; the site may change or close at any time.
2. Account
You must be at least 16 to create an account. The e-mail address has to work; keep the password to yourself. An account is personal and cannot be transferred. One account per person.
You can delete your account in the profile at any time. We may suspend or delete an account that breaches these terms, or that has been unused for more than 24 months with no contributions.
3. Your contributions and the licence on them
What you write and upload remains your work. So that the site may show it, by publishing you grant the operator a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce, make publicly available, translate, edit (shorten, correct, merge with other contributions, adapt to new game builds) and distribute it within Versefiles - including after your account is deleted.
Why it survives deletion: a walkthrough is a sequence of many steps, often by several authors. Remove one part and the rest is worthless. Contributions therefore stay under the display name after an account is deleted; on request they are anonymised ("former member"). You can ask for individual contributions to be removed at any time; we comply unless another author's work builds on them.
You confirm that you hold the necessary rights - in particular for images and videos you did not capture yourself - and that your contributions infringe no third-party rights.
Screenshots and recordings from Star Citizen are material of Cloud Imperium Rights LLC / Ltd. and are shown here under the fan kit agreement. Cloud Imperium may demand their removal; we comply.
4. What does not belong here
- Content that breaks the law, third-party rights or Cloud Imperium's terms (exploits, cheats, datamining beyond what the fan kit allows).
- Other players' personal data that is not part of the mission - chat logs, handles in an abusive context, account details.
- Advertising, sales offers, links to real-money trading, insults, discrimination, automatically generated bulk posts.
- Deliberately wrong guides or sightings; the points system is a side effect, not a goal.
5. Editing and moderation
Walkthroughs are approved by editors before publication; notes are visible at once and can be hidden by editors. Editors may correct, shorten and merge contributions (section 3). Breaches of section 4 lead to removal, repeated breaches to suspension. Complaints go through the feedback form.
6. Import tool
The Windows tool reads the localisation file from your own game install. The tool recognises a file patched by a launcher and restores the original text; do not upload data altered in any other way. Import tokens are personal; do not share them.
7. Liability
Content comes from game files and from players; it can be outdated or wrong, and the game changes with every patch. There is no claim to accuracy. For a free service the operator is liable only for intent and gross negligence and for injury to life, body or health; liability under mandatory law is unaffected.
8. Changes, law
We announce changes to these terms to signed-in users by e-mail four weeks in advance; whoever keeps contributing afterwards agrees, whoever does not can delete the account. German law applies. Consumers additionally keep the mandatory protections of their country of residence. Privacy: see the privacy notice.
